Dear Teachers,
Welcome to the Annick Press Web page featuring teaching ideas that you are free to print out and adapt for classroom
use. These teaching ideas were developed by teachers who have many years of combined teaching experience
from Junior Kindergarten to the end of high school. They have worked in a variety of teaching situations, including classrooms in which English is not the students’ first language.
They also have experience as consultants, workshop leaders, published writers of teacher guides, curriculum advisers for student teachers and beginning teachers, and facilitators for ongoing teacher dialogue and professional development.
The following teaching ideas were developed in partnership with Annick Press. It was a good match.
The classroom material focuses on literacy and reading as part of learning about ourselves and others. Annick Press books mirror
life honestly, reassure and support, and build self-esteem. They stimulate imagination, while encouraging children to trust their own judgment and abilities. The following teaching ideas use strategies from drama, writing, listening and talking to emphasize the value of kids’ responses to what they read by both connecting to and extending their own
experiences. We hope the teaching ideas and activities are useful in your classroom teaching. We welcome your feedback and any ideas you may wish to suggest.
Sincerely,
Annick Press
