Mike Wyatt

Mike Wyatt was born and raised in Chilliwack, British Columbia. The second eldest of four children, Mike liked to spend his time drawing, reading (especially science fiction), and playing sports. It is not surprising that he grew up to be a graphic illustrator since his favorite books as a child were Pierre Berton’s fantasy tale, The Secret World of Og, Asterix, The Adventures of Tin Tin, and Marvel comics. His favorite subjects at school were Art, English, and Social Studies.

Although Mike had been drawing since he was a child, it was not until 2006 that he decided to pursue it professionally. That was the year he and his wife adopted their son. Mike saw this as the perfect opportunity to quit his day job so that he could take care of his son and devote himself full-time to illustration.

He now lives just outside of Vancouver, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, with his wife, two children, one cat, and two pygmy rabbits. His work also happens to be his hobby.

Mike’s advice to aspiring authors and illustrators: “Don’t be afraid of the word No. Use it to motivate you to keep going.”
