Celia Krampen

Celia Krampien grew up in the Owen Sound area of Ontario, spending her formative years exploring the woods and lakes near her home, playing with her many pets, and reading as many books as she could get her hands on. Her other interests were drawing, especially cats, hiking, and making campfires. Her favorite books growing up included The Lorax by Doctor Seuss, Watership Down by Richard Adams, the Nancy Drew series, and the Harry Potter series.

Her parents were very encouraging about her pursuing art as a career. They encouraged her to partake in artistic pursuits, be it drawing, music, or drama. They very much wanted her to have a career doing something that she enjoyed. She feels very fortunate to have had the support of so many adults in her life: parents, family friends, and former teachers, who helped build her imagination with gifts of books, art supplies, and encouraging words.

She graduated from Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Applied Arts—Illustration. The inspiration for her illustrations is drawn from everywhere including walks with her dog, books, movies, and work by her favorite artists. What she enjoys most about the creative process is the act of making lines, connecting them, and shaping them to make new things that did not exist before.

Today she lives in Oakville, Ontario where she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, writing, and playing board games on rainy days.
